Soundpainting Level 1 - Intensive + Certification

A 5 day course with Claude Whipple, Walter Thompson, and François Jeanneau

Get the foundations of Soundpainting in five focused days, then step straight into certification and a public performance with the creator of the language.

Format & Faculty

  • Thu–Fri (Oct 26–28): Core training with Claude Whipple — fast-track Level 1 fundamentals (syntax, key signs, ensemble flow) with plenty of guided practice.

  • Sat–Sun (Oct 29–30): Certification weekend with Walter Thompson and François Jeanneau — coaching, Level 1 certification assessments, and public performance Sunday evening.


What you’ll gain

  • A solid, practical command of the Level 1 signs and syntax

  • Real-time ensemble experience (music focus; open to other disciplines)

  • Individual feedback from Walter & François

  • An opportunity to certify at Level 1 and perform publicly

Who it’s for

Musicians, conductors, educators, actors, dancers/performers new to Soundpainting or seeking a structured entry point. No prior experience with improvisation or Soundpainting required.

  • Dates: Thu–Sun, October 26–30 2026, from 10AM to 5PM, public performance on Sunday 30th at 6PM

  • Venue:Le Pavillon de la Sirène, 20 Rue Dareau, 75014 Paris

  • Language: English (FR-friendly)

  • Certification: Level 1 assessment over the weekend

  • Funding: Organized with Realtime Music (Qualiopi-certified) — AFDAS and employer training budgets may cover institutional registrations

  • Places: Limited to ensure hands-on coaching
